Organised by the YMR Forum and Sponsored By Kernow Model Railway Centre.

The YMR (Your Model Railway) forum has combined with Kernow Model Railway Centre, to organise a major new show in Redruth, Cornwall.
Based on a solid foundation of manufacturer support and attracting a wide range of specialist trade stands and outstanding layouts, demonstrations and societies, this exhibition is sure to attract excellent public support.
The initial show is scheduled for 4th & 5th of September 2010 at the Carn Brea Leisure Centre, Redruth, Cornwall.
It is envisaged that this exhibition will be held biennially and become one of the must-attend shows in the South West of England.
With more than 12 months to go, the Manufacturer line up is already impressive. Hornby Magazine, Model Rail and Railway Modeller Magazine have agreed to support the show and will be attending with their own stands.
Manufacturers already booked to be there include Peco (including Railway Modeller & Continental Modeller), Bachmann, Hornby Railways, Dapol, Fleischmann, Gaugemaster (who will also be representing Piko/Faller /Noch and Kato), The Lenz UK Agents, and OnTracks (Hornby International).
The YMR Forum is due to show, for the first time in the UK, a module-built layout. Members from around the world (including Australia, USA, Europe and even Iraq) have contributed to the building of these modules, each being between 1 and 3 feet long, and these will be combined to make a novel layout displaying differing ideas and skills.
A very strong list of quality layouts, covering most of the popular gauges, has been invited and there is sure to be much to interest the enthusiast and casual observer alike. A novel feature of this show will be the regular “short workshops” where experienced modellers and traders will give short demonstrations on specific subjects and invite questions.
Our policy of inviting selected specialist traders and avoid a line up of stands selling each other’s products, will give the attending public a diverse and useful selection of quality products to view and purchase.
There will also be a strong complement of displays and demonstrations along with preservation society and specialist interest group stands.

Below is shown an original oil painting from Queensland artist Michael Cawdrey. He has very kindly offered this work to YMR to be raffled off, with the proceeds helping to significantly increase the amount of money going to charity from our big exhibition, as outlined above. As you can see for your self it is a Class 66 set in a calm and peaceful rural landscape. Speaking personally I would love to have this work of art adorning one of the rooms in my house, as I'm sure would many of you. Full details of the raffle and where tickets can be obtained will follow.
If you like this work then visit Michael's personal Gallery where there are more of his paintings on display and for sale. They can be found at the link shown below.

The creation of model railways has been a major hobby of mine for many, many years and is still as fulfilling today as it was when I first started. I don't use the word 'creation' lightly, as that is exactly what this hobby is about, creating something that is uniquely yours. A moving, living picture, composed of many different materials, requiring skills that you probably thought you didn't have but which you will learn as you progress.
A very important consideration in today's financial climate is that success in this hobby isn't directly related to how much you spend. When I say success I mean the satisfaction and pleasure that is going to be yours if you choose to follow the hobby and that success has nothing at all to do with how much you can afford. In fact, less can be much, much more. That is not to say that model railroading is a freebie, of course it isn't, but I am being completely truthful when I say that a little can go a very long way.
