Spring has definitely sprung here in Spain. Daily temperatures visiting 75 to 80 deg.F and new green shoots everywhere, very pleasant. No slacking of the modelling season though even though I do spend a lot of time operating now.
I have been looking at the possibility of adding a diesel locomotive cleaning and refuelling facility on Barchester. It will mean a slight alteration to the existing track and the addition of three more points plus an extra 3 yards of track but the room is there so I will be examining this idea closely over the next few days.
Made a start on cutting and measuring my card ready to begin construction of the new cleaning facility. This is one of those models that changes as you build. New ideas keep coming up so it's a case of one foot forward and two back at the moment. Overall it's coming on though. Have decided on a single track cleaning shed with an outside track for internal cleaning.
This is the bare bones at the moment.

My usual all card construction, so easy to work with and to rectify mistakes.

The red water pipes have been added for the power washers for the top and sides of the locomotive. The picture below shows progress so far. Stuck at the moment as I can't decide what to do about the roof, if any. At the moment the structure looks a bit out of place so I need a roof that will make it fit in.

Been playing with the roof and think I have made up my mind as to type.
This is the front view with the roof temporarily in place.

Showing how the roof will be glazed. This is the same as the platform canopies and will be the same colours, dark grey top and yellow front.

This next shot shows the roof glazed and in it's final position and the drain pipes have been fitted.
Beginning to look something like now.

This will be the last picture of the diesel washer as it is because the next job is to get the new track down which leads to it, also the new turnouts. All this when they arrive from the UK.

I am obviously going to have to make alterations, as mentioned above, so here is the track plan with the new bits added. It means more feeds and sections plus I will have to make a new control panel but that was on the 'to do' list anyway.

Track plan with alterations. The washing and fuelling facilities, two different places, are shown coming off the old Goods and Coal Drops line. Twin diesel washing tracks to the left and single line fuelling to the right.

New control panel coming along nicely although I have been stuck for a couple of days because my soldering gun gave up the ghost and I have been chasing round for a new one. The new track for the diesel wash and fuelling point has arrived ok so I can crack on with that, once I have the control panel finished.
That's it then for another month. Summer definitely on it's way as the weather is getting warmer all the time. Great, love the summer.
